        Introduced  by  Sen. SERRANO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance
        AN ACT providing funding in cities having populations of one million  or
          more for combating legionnaires' disease; appropriation
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The sum of fifty million dollars ($50,000,000), or so  much
     2  thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated to the New York City
     3  department  of  health and mental hygiene and the department of environ-
     4  mental protection, respectively, out of any moneys in the state treasury
     5  in the general fund to the credit of the local assistance  account,  not
     6  otherwise  appropriated, and made immediately available, for the purpose
     7  of enforcing all laws, rules and regulations designed to combat  legion-
     8  naires'  disease.  Such moneys shall be payable on the audit and warrant
     9  of the comptroller on vouchers certified or approved by the commissioner
    10  of the department of health and mental hygiene and the  commissioner  of
    11  environmental conservation in the manner prescribed by law.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
