AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to prices on menus
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
2 396-rrr to read as follows:
3 S 396-RRR. PRICES ON MENUS. A PERSON OR CORPORATION ENGAGED IN THE
4 PREPARATION AND SALE OF FOOD IN ANY HOTEL, PUBLIC RESTAURANT, PUBLIC
5 DINING ROOM, DINING CAR, DRUG STORE, SODA FOUNTAIN, STEAMBOAT OR IN ANY
6 OTHER PLACE WHERE FOOD IS PREPARED, SOLD OR SERVED FOR AND TO THE GENER-
7 AL PUBLIC IN THIS STATE SHALL LIST THE PRICE OF EACH AND EVERY ITEM SET
8 FORTH ON THE MENU DISTRIBUTED OR EXHIBITED TO CUSTOMERS EXCEPT FOR THE
9 PRICE OF SEASONAL OR SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS.
10 S 2. This act shall take effect one year after it shall have become a
11 law.
