CARLUCCI, SALAZAR -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first and second report, ordered to a third reading, amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Justice Thurgood Marshall memorial highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-i to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-i. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Justice Thurgood Marshall memorial highway". The portion of state 5 route 17 in the village of Hillburn, town of Ramapo, county of Rockland, 6 shall be designated and known as the "Justice Thurgood Marshall memorial 7 highway". 8 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 9 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 10 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 11 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 12 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 13 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be 14 changed as a result of this act. 15 § 3.
