STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 293 2017-2018 Regular Sessions IN SENATE (Prefiled) January 4, 2017 ___________ Introduced by Sen. ROBACH -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to limiting the expendi- tures by candidates for senate and assembly The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new section 14-105 2 to read as follows: 3 § 14-105. Limit expenditures by senate and assembly campaigns. 1. 4 Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, any candidate for senate is 5 prohibited from spending more than three hundred thousand dollars and 6 any candidate for assembly is prohibited from spending more than one 7 hundred fifty thousand dollars on an election for such respective 8 office. 9 2. The state board of elections shall promulgate any rules and regu- 10 lations necessary for the implementation of this section. 11 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
