        HONORING  Lilia Perez of RGNY upon the occasion of
        her designation as recipient of the  Decanter  World
        Wine Award

  WHEREAS,  It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements  of  those  individuals  and  businesses  that   contribute
substantially  to  the  economic  vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lilia Perez of RGNY upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the  Decanter World Wine Award which was presented on Wednesday, July 7,
2021; and

  WHEREAS, The 18th Annual  Decanter  World  Wine  Awards  (DWWA),  an
internationally  recognized  competition  highlighting  the  best of the
world's wine, recognized Lilia Perez of RGNY vineyards with a Gold Medal
for her 2019 Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon blend from the North  Fork  Region
of New York; and

  WHEREAS,  During this year's event, more than 18,000 entries from 56
countries were rated for quality,  with  Lilia  Perez's  2019  Sauvignon
Blanc-Semillon  blend  scoring a 95, meaning it's a classic, great wine;
and

  WHEREAS, With its first vines planted by the Rivero Gonzalez  family
in Parras, Coahuila, Mexico, in 1998, RGNY is now a family of winemakers
with  a deep regard for their heritage which brings a unique perspective
to their business; and

  WHEREAS, A winemaker at RGNY, Lilia  Perez  traveled  to  France  on
behalf  of  the  Rivero  Gonzalez  brand  to  get her master's degree in
vineyard and winery management; and

  WHEREAS, Using this experience, Lilia Perez began to experiment with
a white Bordeaux; after approximately six months of aging in  a  neutral
oak  barrel,  she  and  her co-workers bottled the complex wine which is
very expressive on the nose and very well balanced; and

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative  Body  that  those  who
have  shown  a  long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high
standards in their profession, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Lilia  Perez  of  RGNY  upon  the  occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Decanter World Wine Award; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Lilia Perez, Winemaker, RGNY.
