        RECOGNIZING    March   31,   2021,   as   COVID-19
        Remembrance and Tribute Day in the City  of  Albany,
        New  York, a day to pause and remember the residents
        of Albany lost to the virus and to  celebrate  their
        lives

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom  of this Legislative Body to recognize
certain events of significance which bring the people of  the  State  of
New  York  together  to honor the memory and remember the lives of their
loved ones; the Albany COVID-19 Remembrance and Tribute Day is one  such
event; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long- standing traditions, this Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
recognize Wednesday, March 31, 2021, as COVID-19 Remembrance and Tribute
Day  in  the  City  of Albany, New York, a day to pause and remember the
residents of Albany lost to the virus and to celebrate their lives; and

  WHEREAS, Under the direction of the Albany Tulip Court,  the  Albany
COVID-19  Remembrance Day will represent both family members and victims
of COVID-19 from Albany, New York, who have been tragically impacted  by
this life-threatening and devastating pandemic; and

  WHEREAS,  This  day  of solemn reflection for those lost to COVID-19
will also honor those who overcame this devastating virus,  as  well  as
the countless local frontline workers and small business owners who have
remained  steadfast  in  their  commitment  to  the  community  and  its
residents during these difficult and trying times; and

  WHEREAS, Furthermore, on this vital day, participants are encouraged
to light a candle as a way to pay just  tribute  to  the  essential  and
frontline  workers  who  spent  tireless  hours caring for and providing
services to the Albany community;  it  will  also  serve  as  a  way  to
remember those who have lost their lives to COVID-19, and their families
who continue to mourn their loss; and

  WHEREAS,  Our  society  is deeply saddened at the loss of neighbors,
family members, and friends but grateful for  the  opportunity  to  come
together as a community and reflect upon the lives lost to this horrific
pandemic;  this  Legislative  Body encourages all New Yorkers across the
State to pause and honor the memory of the lives of  those  victims  and
survivors; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize March 31, 2021, as COVID-19 Remembrance and Tribute Day in the
City of Albany, New York, a day to pause and remember the  residents  of
Albany lost to the virus and to celebrate their lives; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Albany Tulip Court.
