Senate Resolution No. 3075

        HONORING  Deborah  Young  upon the occasion of her
        designation  as  a  Neighborhood   Leader   by   the
        Neighborhood  Technical Assistance Clinic on June 9,
        2020

  WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies  and  serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

  WHEREAS,  Deborah  Young has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is  justly  proud  to  honor  Deborah
Young  upon  the occasion of her designation as a Neighborhood Leader by
the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic to  be  celebrated  at  its
13th  Annual  Gala,  A  Salute  to  New  York  City's Nonprofits and the
Neighborhoods They Serve, on Tuesday, June 9, 2020,  at  Giando  on  the
Water, Brooklyn, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Neighborhood  Technical Assistance Clinic (NTAC) is a
strategic  partner  and   advisor   to   philanthropists,   foundations,
government  and  political  entities,  public  institutions,  grassroots
nonprofit organizations, and faith-based institutions wishing to improve
their programs and organizational effectiveness in addressing the  needs
of low-income and service-starved communities; and

  WHEREAS,  Deborah  Young  ended  her  illustrious  30-year career at
Medgar Evers College as  Director  of  the  Career  Management  Services
Center under the umbrella of the Office of Student Affairs; she has also
served  as  the  Chair of the Scholarship Committee for the Medgar Evers
College Alumni Association; and

  WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman has been the  proud  recipient  of
numerous awards and accolades, including Campus Liaison of the Year from
the   National   Urban   League's   Black  Executive  Exchange  Program,
Distinguished Alumni Citation of the Year from the National  Association
of Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, and Outstanding Performance as
a  Placement  Officer  from  Thurgood  Marshall College Fund, as well as
recognition from Medgar  Evers  College  after  25  years  of  dedicated
service to the college community; and

  WHEREAS,  Rare  indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Deborah Young  has  displayed
throughout her life; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are  brought  to  our
attention,  they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor   Deborah  Young  upon  the  occasion  of  her  designation  as  a

Neighborhood Leader by the Neighborhood Technical Assistance Clinic; and
be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Deborah Young.
