Senate Resolution No. 2898 BY: Senator PARKER COMMENDING Cathleen Trigg-Jones upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition at the New York City Women's History Month Ceremony on March 25, 2020 WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge and celebrate individuals and events of historic significance which add vitality, sensitivity, understanding and inspiration to the diversity and values of the people of this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Cathleen Trigg-Jones upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition at the New York City Women's History Month Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the Side Bar in New York City; and WHEREAS, This auspicious event will be hosted by Kangol Kid with music by DJ Donny Oh B; in addition, there will be Special Guest Appearances by: CL Smooth, Roxanne Shante, Kool DJ Red Alert, Sparky Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Grandmaster Dee, Funk Master Flex, Grand Puba, Dinco D, Full Force, and Allure; and WHEREAS, Cathleen Trigg-Jones is an Emmy Award winning journalist, talk show host, producer and actress who has co-starred in more than 12 television shows and films, including "Power," "Madam Secretary," "House of Cards," "Homeland," and the Tupac Shakur biopic, "All Eyes On Me"; and WHEREAS, Cathleen Trigg-Jones is also the Executive Producer and Host of the talk show "Chic Chat" on iOne Digital, and creator and co-star of the hit docu-series "We Are The Joneses," which premiered on BET's Centric TV, and debuted on the Discovery Life Channel in January of 2020; and WHEREAS, In addition to her on-air career in television, radio and film which has spanned more than two decades, Cathleen Trigg-Jones works behind the scenes creating and producing television and film projects under the umbrella of her own multi-media production, advertising and marketing company, Catscape Productions, which she founded in 2006; and WHEREAS, Catscape Productions is a safe haven for women in film and television who are focused on producing content that is responsible, entertaining and socially charged to change the landscape of how women are portrayed in the media, in front of and behind the camera; in keeping with her quest to empower women everywhere, Cathleen Trigg-Jones will be launching iWoman TV, which will stream content produced by women, about women, for everyone; and WHEREAS, Cathleen Trigg-Jones is also working on several documentaries addressing her adoption and the search for her birth parents, her family's efforts to help the victims of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, and their inspirational journey to Africa; and WHEREAS, This dynamic woman is a member of New York Women in Film and Television, The Screen Actors Guild, The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, The National Association of Black Journalists, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and many other organizations; and WHEREAS, Cathleen Trigg-Jones is also a highly sought-after motivational speaker and emcee for events which benefit women around the world; and WHEREAS, For her steadfast commitment to her profession and philanthropic contributions, Cathleen Trigg-Jones has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades by organizations such as Black Women In Media, Girlz Talk: Lift As We Climb Award, The BOSS Network: Influencers Award, The Women's Image Network, BMW - Women of Excellence, and the Child's Hero Award from the Essex County CASA; and WHEREAS, As a proud mother of four and a former foster child, Cathleen Trigg-Jones' deepest passion is helping underserved women and children around the world; in 2008, she founded Trigg House, a not-for-profit organization which provides assistance to teens aging out of the foster care system; recently, she was appointed a New York State Court Appointed Advocate for Foster Children (CASA), and was certified to become a foster parent; and WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless women, strong and colorful threads vital to the fabric of our rich heritage, who have and continue to contribute to the advancement of our culture through their traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when events of such noble aims and intentions are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Cathleen Trigg-Jones upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition at the New York City Women's History Month Ceremony on March 25, 2020; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Cathleen Trigg-Jones.
