Senate Resolution No. 1107 BY: Senator GRIFFO HONORING Brad Jacobs upon the occasion of being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 10-11, 2023 WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge outstanding professionals in the boxing industry who distinguished themselves through their exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest level of personal achievement; Brad Jacobs is one such individual and his life of achievements inspired others and contributed to the respect and admiration of the sport of boxing; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Brad Jacobs upon the occasion of being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame at Hall of Fame Weekend on June 10-11, 2023 in Canastota, New York; and WHEREAS, Brad Jacobs tenure in boxing began in 1981 as the general manager of Alessi Promotions, where he helped guide middleweight knockout artist John "The Beast" Mugabi to a shot at champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler; and WHEREAS, For 12 years, Brad Jacobs served as the senior programming consultant for USA Network's beloved Tuesday Night Fights series, which saw legends like Larry Holmes, George Foreman, Hector Camacho, Oscar De La Hoya, and Roy Jones Jr. showcase their talents; and WHEREAS, From 2000 to 2006, Brad Jacobs joined forces with Jones as the senior advisor for Square Ring, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Since 2010, Brad Jacobs has served as Top Rank's COO, bolstering the company's global footprint while overseeing the operations of dozens of events annually; in 2020, he was the architect behind the Top Rank Bubble at MGM Grand Las Vegas, one of the first of its kind in global sports following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, Brad Jacobs clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of the International Boxing Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Brad Jacobs upon the occasion of being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 10-11, 2023; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Brad Jacobs.
