Senate Resolution No. 1082

        COMMENDING   the   SUNY   Old   Westbury   College
        Foundation  upon  the  occasion   of   hosting   its
        Leadership Awards Dinner on May 7, 2019

  WHEREAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State  of  New  York  whose  focus  and
intent  have  made  a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commend the SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation upon  the  occasion  of
hosting  its  Leadership Awards Dinner on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Crest
Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, New York; and

  WHEREAS, The 2019 Leadership Awards Dinner will honor  distinguished
area citizens and College alumni who enrich the community in distinctive
ways  -  economically,  scientifically,  culturally,  intellectually and
socially - and whose efforts, taken together, are helping  to  transform
the Long Island Region; and

  WHEREAS,  Funds  generated  from  the  Leadership  Awards Dinner are
utilized by the SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation to provide  student
scholarships,  as  well  as support for academic enrichment programs and
the many needs of the College not fully provided by  the  State  of  New
York; and

  WHEREAS,   Established  in  1968,  the  SUNY  Old  Westbury  College
Foundation, Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to assisting
the State University of  New  York  at  Old  Westbury  in  becoming  the
flagship arts and sciences college in the state system; and

  WHEREAS,  Directed  by  a board of distinguished business, civic and
academic leaders, the SUNY Old Westbury College  Foundation  strives  to
ensure that every person with a desire to succeed has the opportunity to
obtain a college education; and

  WHEREAS,  Remaining  true  to  its  mission,  the  SUNY Old Westbury
College Foundation provides resources, develops  relationships,  creates
additional  awareness  and  offers  guidance  when appropriate to ensure
continuous  progress  in  the  development  of  the  College's  academic
programs, student life, and community relations; and

  WHEREAS,  Over  its  distinguished  history,  the  SUNY Old Westbury
College Foundation has demonstrated continuous service to  the  students
and communities which it serves; and

  WHEREAS,  The success of the SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation is
in direct correlation to the efforts of its dedicated Board of Trustees,
whose  involvement  is,  and  always  has  been,  characterized  by   an
impressive  commitment,  an  unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf  of  the  organization
and the students it serves; and


  WHEREAS,  This  auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the SUNY  Old  Westbury
College Foundation; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom  of  this  Legislative  Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated  and  recognized  by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation upon  the  occasion  of
hosting its Leadership Awards Dinner on May 7, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the SUNY Old Westbury College Foundation.
