Assembly Resolution No. 218 BY: M. of A. Smullen COMMENDING The Honorable S. Peter Feldstein upon the occasion of his retirement after 29 years of distinguished service to Hamilton County WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful lives and careers to preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of the citizens of their community and the State of New York; and WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Hamilton County community has been ably served and uniquely enriched through the selfless dedication and benevolent concern of Judge S. Peter Feldstein; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The Honorable S. Peter Feldstein upon the occasion of his retirement after 29 years of distinguished service to Hamilton County; he will officially retire on April 18, 2019; and WHEREAS, S. Peter Feldstein has served the people of Hamilton County as a "three hat" Judge since 1990; he served as Surrogate Court Judge, Criminal Court Judge, and Family Court Judge for three decades; and WHEREAS, Since 2000, S. Peter Feldstein was also an Acting Justice for the New York Supreme 4th Judicial District; and WHEREAS, Judge S. Peter Feldstein entered the practice of law in 1978 after receiving his bachelor's degree from Union College, and his law degree from Duke University Law School; and WHEREAS, Known for his irrefutable character and judgment, Judge S. Peter Feldstein has had a remarkable career where he has brought honor to the bench; and WHEREAS, Judge S. Peter Feldstein is respected most wildly among those from the schools, Children Services programs, and families themselves; and WHEREAS, A significant amount of the work load in Hamilton County is on Family Court matters, and in this area, Judge S. Peter Feldstein's demeanor, judgment, and calm thoughtful reason has put many children on a better path; and WHEREAS, Judge S. Peter Feldstein served with loyalty, honor and distinction, was governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official acts; and WHEREAS, He was known among his colleagues and in his community to be fair and scrupulously conscientious, having the utmost respect for the position he held; and WHEREAS, A singular asset to all of the citizens he has served, Judge S. Peter Feldstein 's life and career are a portrait of preeminence in jurisprudence, and present a role model for all who aspire to a career in public service; and WHEREAS, Judge S. Peter Feldstein, in every capacity in which he served, has left his permanent mark on the criminal justice community and will forever be remembered as a determined, innovative and genuinely concerned expert in his field; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend The Honorable S. Peter Feldstein upon the occasion of his retirement after 29 years of distinguished service to Hamilton County, and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to The Honorable S. Peter Feldstein.
