        COMMENDING  the  Brooklyn  Club  of  the  National
        Association  of  Negro  Business  and   Professional
        Women's Clubs, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
        55th  Annual  Founders'  Day Observance event on May
        21, 2023

  WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those vital organizations within our midst who
have made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

  WHEREAS, From time to time  this  Legislative  Body  takes  note  of
certain   extraordinary  individuals  and  organizations  it  wishes  to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress  of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to commend the
Brooklyn  Club  of  the  National  Association  of  Negro  Business  and
Professional  Women's  Clubs, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its 55th
Annual Founders' Day Observance  event  on  Sunday,  May  21,  2023,  at
Gargiulo's in Brooklyn, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Brooklyn  Club  of  the National Association of Negro
Business and  Professional  Women's  Clubs  (NANBPWC),  Inc.    annually
acknowledges  their Founders; the shoulders on which they stand, and the
role and responsibility to prepare their young people  for  the  future;
and

  WHEREAS,  During this auspicious occasion, the Club will present the
Sojourner Truth Award to an outstanding African American woman and  will
award  several  Club  scholarships  and  three Legendary Scholarships to
graduating high school seniors; and

  WHEREAS, This year's theme is "78  years  of  S.I.P.:  "Systemically
Intensifying Progression Continues!"; and

  WHEREAS,   In  1944,  National  President,  Ruth  Handy,  called  21
prominent African American women of Brooklyn to  organize  the  Brooklyn
Club  of  the  National  Association  of Negro Business and Professional
Women's Clubs, Inc.; the first members included public school  teachers,
doctors, journalists, funeral directors, social workers, music teachers,
and  other entrepreneurs; in November of 1945, the organization received
their national charter in Chicago, Illinois, at the National Convention;
and

  WHEREAS, Since its inception, the  Brooklyn  Club  of  the  National
Association  of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs (NANBPWC),
Inc. has remained true to  its  mission  of  educating,  empowering  and
enhancing the quality of life in its communities; and

  WHEREAS,  The Brooklyn Club of NANBPWC also remains steadfast in its
volunteering  efforts  in  the  National  mandated  forums  of   Health,
Education, Employment and Economic Development (HEED); NANBPWC, Inc. and

American   Heart  Association  and  American  Stroke  Association,  Inc.
partnership for health programs; and various Women's History and  "Power
of Our Dollars" programs and projects; and

  WHEREAS,   The   success  of  the  Brooklyn  Club  of  the  National
Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its leadership and  members,  whose
involvement  is,  and  always  has  been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising  standard  of
excellence  in  all  endeavors  on  behalf  of  the  institution and the
community it serves; and

  WHEREAS, It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  when
organizations  of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the  citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Brooklyn Club of the National Association of Negro  Business
and  Professional  Women's  Clubs, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
55th Annual Founders' Day Observance event on May 21, 2023;  and  be  it
further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Brooklyn Club of the National  Association  of  Negro
Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc.
