        MEMORIALIZING  Governor  Kathy  Hochul to proclaim
        April 16-22, 2023, as Volunteer Week in the State of
        New York

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the  State  of
New  York  who  volunteer  their  time  and energies in service to their
communities; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  it  is the sense of this Legislative Body to
memorialize Governor Kathy Hochul to  proclaim  April  16-22,  2023,  as
Volunteer Week in the State of New York; and

  WHEREAS,  Community  involvement  is  a  significant  factor  in the
success of a society;  volunteerism  is  an  essential  element  of  all
societies,  providing  a  way  in  which  the human values of community,
caring and serving can be sustained and strengthened; and

  WHEREAS, Service to community and country is the foundation  of  our
society, and the contributions and future efforts of those in service to
them  are  a  vital  part  of,  and valuable asset to, the fabric of our
communities; and

  WHEREAS,  Volunteering  is  an  avenue  to  explore  interests   and
passions,  and provides for renewed motivation, creativity, passion, and
vision that can carry over to all aspects of life; and

  WHEREAS,  National  Volunteer  Week  works  to  inspire,  equip  and
mobilize people to take actions that can change the world; and

  WHEREAS,   Volunteers  can  connect  with  local  community  service
opportunities through hundreds of community service organizations; and

  WHEREAS, When individuals, businesses, and families work together to
support the community, everyone benefits; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
memorialize  Governor  Kathy  Hochul  to  proclaim April 16-22, 2023, as
Volunteer Week in the State of New York; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted  to The Honorable Kathy Hochul, Governor of the State of New
York.
