Senate Resolution No. 498 BY: Senator RITCHIE COMMENDING Charles C. Cassel upon the occasion of his retirement after 51 years of distinguished service to Sears Roebuck and Company in Watertown, New York WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed residents of this noble Empire State; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Charles C. Cassel upon the occasion of his retirement after 51 years of distinguished service to Sears Roebuck and Company in Watertown, New York; and WHEREAS, Charles C. Cassel began his long and distinguished career in the display department for Sears Roebuck and Company in the 1960s; he then worked in the store's front office writing purchase orders at a time when such tasks were all handled manually; and WHEREAS, During the 1980s, Charles C. Cassel attended Jefferson Community College at night, earning his associate's degree in business administration; and WHEREAS, Eventually his superior office skills were noticed, and Charles C. Cassel was chosen to run the paint department, and later, the home improvement department; and WHEREAS, For the latter part of his career, Charles C. Cassel worked in sales, first in the lawn and garden department, and then in the appliance department; throughout his tenure, he was known for his patience and vast knowledge; many of his loyal customers often returned to seek his advice, and sent him numerous cards and letters of thanks for his superb customer service; and WHEREAS, For the past 51 years, Charles C. Cassel rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to Sears Roebuck and Company, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and WHEREAS, During his tenure with Sears Roebuck and Company, Charles C. Cassel earned the admiration, esteem and affection of not only his many customers, but his superiors and colleagues as well; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Charles C. Cassel upon the occasion of his retirement after 51 years of distinguished service to Sears Roebuck and Company in Watertown, New York, and to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Charles C. Cassel.
