Senate Resolution No. 356 BY: Senator MARTINS CONGRATULATING Mary Chesna upon the occasion of receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second highest achievement WHEREAS, Mary Chesna, through her diligence and rigorous efforts, has achieved Cadette Scouting's highest and Girl Scouting's second highest achievement, the Silver Award; the Willistons, Albertson, Roslyn, Mineola (W.A.R.M.) Girl Scout Association Award Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Chaminade High School's Activity Athletic Center in Mineola, New York; and WHEREAS, Mary Chesna is a member of the Girl Scouts of America Troop 1162; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people the goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of working with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride, and encouraging community service and success; and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which have made Scouting an American and international institution; and WHEREAS, Mary Chesna completed a Silver Award community service project to beautify the Williston Park Post Office which she planned, developed and executed; and WHEREAS, Along with the rest of her troop, Mary Chesna worked tirelessly to clean the weeds, trim bushes, lay down mulch, sand and repaint railings, renovate two old worn four-foot benches to use for a new eight foot elegantly stained bench, repaint lanterns, replace all the shutters on the front of the building, and plant beautiful mums outside the post office; and WHEREAS, Mary Chesna is a credit to her family, her school, her community, her State and her Nation, and no doubt her future will be filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Mary Chesna, recognizing her achievement in earning the Girl Scout Silver Award, and to wish her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Mary Chesna.
