          Committee on Transportation
        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation  to  qualifica-
          tion procedures for bus drivers
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 509-d of the vehicle and traffic law is amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 8 to read as follows:
     3    (8)  In lieu of a driving record as required by this section, it shall
     4  be sufficient for a motor carrier to  instead  obtain  evidence  that  a
     5  person  obtained a commercial drivers license after meeting the require-
     6  ments set forth in 49 CFR 383.77, in relation to drivers  with  military
     7  experience  in  the operation of a representative commercial motor vehi-
     8  cle, prior to being employed as a bus driver.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
