          on Codes
        AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to making a  false  statement
          to an official of a municipal agency
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The penal law is amended by adding a new section 240.49  to
     2  read as follows:
     3  § 240.49 Making  a false statement to an official of a municipal govern-
     4             ment agency.
     5    A person is guilty of making a false statement to  an  official  of  a
     6  municipal government agency when he or she, by words or action, knowing-
     7  ly  makes  a  false  statement to any official of a municipal government
     8  agency in the state of New York.
     9    Making a false statement to an  official  of  a  municipal  government
    10  agency is a class A misdemeanor.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
    12  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
