         tee on Cities
       AN ACT to amend the municipal home rule law, in  relation  to  requiring
         community boards to review and hold public hearings on the recommenda-
         tions  made  by  a city charter revision commission within twenty days
         after such commission publishes its findings
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1.  This act shall be known and may be cited as the "community
    2  participation in charter revision act".
    3    S  2. Section 36 of the municipal home rule law is amended by adding a
    4  new subdivision 7 to read as follows:
    5    7. WITHIN TWENTY DAYS AFTER A CHARTER COMMISSION ESTABLISHED  PURSUANT
    6  TO  THIS  SECTION  MAKES ITS RECOMMENDATIONS AND PUBLISHES ITS FINDINGS,
    7  COMMUNITY BOARDS IN CITIES OF ONE  MILLION  OR  MORE  INHABITANTS  SHALL
    8  REVIEW  AND  HOLD  PUBLIC HEARINGS ON SUCH RECOMMENDATIONS AND FINDINGS,
    9  AND MAY PASS A RESOLUTION ADVISING SUPPORT, OPPOSITION  OR  MODIFICATION
   10  OF SUCH RECOMMENDATIONS AND FINDINGS.
   11    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
