STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10090 IN ASSEMBLY April 29, 2022 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. SMITH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to portraits of former gover- nors The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new section 72-a to 2 read as follows: 3 § 72-a. Portraits of governors in the state capitol. No portrait of a 4 former governor who does not complete any term for which they were 5 elected may be displayed in the state capitol building without the 6 approval of the legislature by the passage of a concurrent resolution. 7 This provision shall not apply to a governor who dies while in office. 8 § 2.
