GIBSON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to directing the metropolitan transportation authority to establish and implement a no fare program for children attending public school in the city district of the city of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 1266 of the public authorities law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 19 to read as follows: 3 19. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISIONS OF LAW OR THE TERMS OF ANY 4 CONTRACT, THE AUTHORITY, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT 5 AUTHORITY, THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD AND THE METRO-NORTH COMMUTER RAIL- 6 ROAD COMPANY, SHALL ESTABLISH AND IMPLEMENT A NO FARE PROGRAM FOR TRANS- 7 PORTATION ON NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT AUTHORITY SYSTEMS, THE LONG ISLAND 8 RAIL ROAD AND THE METRO-NORTH COMMUTER RAILROAD COMPANY FOR PRIMARY AND 9 SECONDARY SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN ATTENDING SCHOOL IN THE CITY DISTRICT OF 10 THE CITY OF NEW YORK. 11 S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after 12 it shall have become a law, provided, however, that any rules and regu- 13 lations necessary for the timely implementation of this act on its 14 effective date shall be promulgated on or before such date.
