STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9855 IN ASSEMBLY February 14, 2018 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. WILLIAMS -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring a pharmacy to accept and dispose of unused prescription drugs The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 6810-a 2 to read as follows: 3 § 6810-a. Disposal of unused prescription drugs. A pharmacy registered 4 with the department pursuant to section sixty-eight hundred eight of 5 this article shall accept and dispose of any unused portions of 6 prescription drugs pursuant to regulations promulgated by the commis- 7 sioner of health. 8 § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall 9 have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or 10 repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of 11 this act on its effective date are authorized and directed to be made 12 and completed on or before such effective date.
