          tee on Transportation

        AN ACT to amend the transportation law, in  relation  to  directing  the
          department  of  transportation  to  implement  a system to reduce time
          spent at multiple department of transportation checkpoints in the same
          day

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1.  The transportation law is amended by adding a new section
     2  14-o to read as follows:
     3    § 14-o. Truck checkpoint efficiency system. 1. The department is here-
     4  by directed to create and implement a system in order that trucks  which
     5  have stopped at a department safety inspection site on a given day shall
     6  not  be  required to stop at other department safety inspection sites on
     7  the same day.
     8    2. No later than one year after the effective date  of  this  section,
     9  the  commissioner  shall submit to the governor, the temporary president
    10  of the senate, and the speaker of the assembly a  report  outlining  the
    11  new  system  required  pursuant  to subdivision one of this section, how
    12  such system operates, and how such system shall be communicated to driv-
    13  ers in the state.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
