        AN ACT in relation to the eligibility of enrolled members of Southampton
          Village Ocean Rescue for the tax exemption on real property authorized
          by section 466-c of the real property tax law

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the  contrary,  the
     2  enrolled  members  of Southampton Village Ocean Rescue shall be eligible
     3  for the tax exemption on real property authorized by  section  466-c  of
     4  the  real property tax law, as added by chapter 450 of the laws of 2002,
     5  provided that: (a) the village board of the village of  Southampton  has
     6  designated  Southampton  Village Ocean Rescue as an emergency rescue and
     7  first aid squad by resolution of the village board, under section  209-b
     8  of  the  general municipal law or by special act of the legislature; and
     9  (b) the governing body of any village, town, county or  school  district
    10  within  the town, after a public hearing, adopts a local law, ordinance,
    11  or resolution providing for such tax exemption.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
    13  ing  the  date  on  which  it shall have become a law and shall apply to
    14  taxable status dates occurring on or after such date.
