PRETLOW -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to the Westches- ter county health care corporation THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 1 of section 3303 of the 2 public authorities law, as added by chapter 11 of the laws of 1997, is 3 amended to read as follows: 4 (b) The corporation shall be governed by [fifteen] TWENTY-ONE voting 5 directors of which [eight] FOURTEEN directors shall be appointed by the 6 governor and seven directors shall be appointed by the legislature of 7 the county of Westchester subject to approval by the county executive. 8 The governor shall make appointments to the corporation as follows: 9 three directors from a recommendation submitted by the county executive; 10 three directors from a recommendation submitted by the legislature of 11 the county of Westchester; one director, who shall be a resident of 12 Westchester county, from a recommendation submitted by the speaker of 13 the assembly; one director, who shall be a resident of Westchester coun- 14 ty, from a recommendation submitted by the temporary president of the 15 senate, AND SIX DIRECTORS FROM A RECOMMENDATION SUBMITTED BY THE BOARD 16 OF DIRECTORS OF THE CORPORATION BASED ON THE NEED OF THE CORPORATION FOR 17 DIRECTORS WITH (I) SPECIFIC EXPERTISE RELATED TO THE PROVISION OF 18 HEALTHCARE AND RELATED SERVICES, (II) REGIONAL DIVERSITY, AND (III) THE 19 ABILITY TO MEET REQUIREMENTS FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER BOARDS OF DIRECTORS 20 IMPOSED BY REGULATORY BODIES. 21 The terms of the initial voting directors appointed by the governor 22 shall be five years for such directors appointed upon recommendation of 23 the temporary president of the senate and the speaker of the assembly. 24 The terms of the initial voting directors appointed by the governor upon 25 the recommendation of the county executive shall be five years for one, 26 four years for one and three years for one.
