STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9233--A IN ASSEMBLY February 4, 2016 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. LUPARDO -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Col. David Ireland Memorial Highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-e. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Col. David Ireland Memorial Highway". That portion of the state highway 5 system constituting state route four hundred thirty-four from its inter- 6 section with Pennsylvania Avenue to its intersection with South Washing- 7 ton Street, in the city of Binghamton, in the county of Broome, shall 8 each be designated and known as the "Col. David Ireland Memorial High- 9 way". 10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 11 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 12 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 13 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 14 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 15 ceremonial nature and the official names of such highway shall not be 16 changed as a result of this act. 17 § 3.
