AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to research institutes on
addiction
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. Section 5200 of the education law, as added by section 1 of
2 part E of chapter 405 of the laws of 1999, is amended to read as
3 follows:
4 S 5200. Establishment of the research institute on addictions. There
5 is hereby established at the university center at Buffalo of the state
6 university of New York the research institute on addictions for research
7 and teaching in the sciences related to addiction, including alcohol
8 abuse and substance abuse, as such terms are defined in section 1.03 of
9 the mental hygiene law, and chemical dependence, as defined in section
10 19.40 of the mental hygiene law. FUNDS SHALL BE MADE AVAILABLE ANNUALLY
11 FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE ON ADDICTIONS IN THE AMOUNTS
12 APPROPRIATED FOR THIS PURPOSE AND SHALL NOT BE APPROPRIATED OR TRANS-
13 FERRED FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE.
14 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
