AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to the promotion and
administration of scheduled exams
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 50 of the civil service law, as
2 amended by chapter 166 of the laws of 1978, is amended to read as
3 follows:
4 2. Announcement of examination. The state civil service department and
5 municipal commissions shall issue an announcement of each competitive
6 examination, setting forth the minimum qualifications required, the
7 subjects of the examination, and such other information as they may deem
8 necessary, and shall advertise AND PROMOTE such examination in such
9 manner as the nature of the examination may require. Such announcement
10 and advertisement shall each inform prospective applicants of the
11 options for religious observance provided in subdivision eight of this
12 section.
13 S 2. Section 50 of the civil service law is amended by adding a new
14 subdivision 5-a to read as follows:
15 5-A. LOCATION OF EXAMINATIONS. ALL COMPETITIVE AND CONTINUOUS RECRUIT-
16 MENT EXAMINATIONS ADMINISTERED BY THE STATE CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT
17 SHALL BE HELD AT A STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
18 CENTER.
19 S 3. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
20 have become a law.
