          tee on Education
        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring  the  waiver
          of  the  regents examination requirement for certain students who take
          advanced placement examinations
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 208-b
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 208-b. High school regents examination  waiver.  The  regents  shall
     4  waive  the requirement for a student to take and pass a regents examina-
     5  tion for a subject in which a high school student has taken an  advanced
     6  placement  course  and  received  a 3, 4 or 5 as a score on the advanced
     7  placement examination therefor.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
