          Administration) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Children
          and Families

        AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to kinship  guardi-
          anship  of  children  whose parental rights were surrendered or termi-
          nated

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1. Subdivision 1 of section 458-a of the social services law,
     2  as amended by chapter 607 of the laws of 2011, is  amended  to  read  as
     3  follows:
     4    1. "Child" shall mean a person under the age of twenty-one years whose
     5  custody, care and custody, or custody and guardianship have been commit-
     6  ted  to  a  social  services  official prior to such person's eighteenth
     7  birthday pursuant to section three hundred fifty-eight-a, three  hundred
     8  eighty-three-c,  three  hundred eighty-four, three hundred eighty-four-a
     9  or three hundred eighty-four-b of this chapter or article three,  seven,
    10  ten or 10-C of the family court act.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
