PEOPLES-STOKES -- (at request of the Office of Victim Services) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Govern- mental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to increasing the thresh- old for proof of financial difficulty THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. The opening paragraph of paragraph (a) of subdivision 6 of 2 section 631 of the executive law, as amended by section 22 of part A-1 3 of chapter 56 of the laws of 2010, is amended to read as follows: 4 Claims may be approved only if the office finds that unless the claim- 5 ant's award is approved he OR SHE will suffer financial difficulty. 6 However, no finding of financial difficulty is required for a claim for 7 an emergency award or an award less than [five] TEN thousand dollars. In 8 determining financial difficulty, the office shall consider all relevant 9 factors, including but not limited to: 10 S 2.
