        AN ACT to amend the legislative law, in relation to limiting the  amount
          of time a legislator may serve as a legislative leader
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The legislative law is amended by adding a new section  5-b
     2  to read as follows:
     3    §  5-b. Limits on time a legislator may serve as a legislative leader.
     4  No member of the legislature may be elected  to  serve  more  than  four
     5  consecutive  two  year  terms  as the temporary president of the senate,
     6  minority leader of the senate, speaker of the assembly, minority  leader
     7  of the assembly or the chairperson of any senate or assembly committee.
     8    §  2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
     9  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
