       AN  ACT  to amend the education law, in relation to medical education in
         pain management
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Section  6524 of the education law is amended by adding a
    2  new subdivision 12 to read as follows:
    3    (12) PHYSICIAN EDUCATION UNDER SUBDIVISION TWO OF THIS  SECTION  SHALL
    4  INCLUDE  EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN PAIN MANAGEMENT AND END-OF-LIFE CARE,
    5  INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: PALLIATIVE MEDICINE, PAIN, NEUROPSYCHOLOG-
    6  IC AND OTHER SYMPTOMS, ETHICS AND THE LAW, PATIENT AND  FAMILY  PERSPEC-
    7  TIVES  ON END-OF-LIFE CARE, ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT, AND CLINICAL COMMUNI-
    8  CATION SKILLS, SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS OF THE COMMISSIONER, IF ANY.
    9    S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January of the  second
   10  year after it shall have become a law.
