       AN  ACT  to  amend  the social services law, in relation to requiring an
         address as a condition of receiving assistance
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1. Subdivision 2 of section 134-a of the social services law,
    2  as amended by chapter 685 of the laws of 1975, is  amended  to  read  as
    3  follows:
    4     2.   At the time he OR SHE applies for public assistance and care, an
    5  applicant shall, as a condition of receiving such aid, present proof  of
    6  his  OR HER identity to the social services official as the [department]
    7  OFFICE OF TEMPORARY AND DISABILITY ASSISTANCE may by regulation require,
    8  AND AN ADDRESS WHICH SHALL BE A RESIDENCE, A  PUBLIC  SHELTER,  OR  SUCH
    9  SITE  AS  THE  DISTRICT  COMMISSIONER  SHALL  DEEM  APPROPRIATE  FOR THE
   10  PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION, and [he] THE RECIPIENT shall provide  such
   11  proof thereafter whenever required by such official.
   12    S  2.   This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
   13  have become a law.
