        AN  ACT  to  amend the public officers law, in relation to authorizing a
          person to hold the office of receiver of taxes in the  town  of  North
          Castle while living outside of such municipality
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 15 of section 3 of the public officers law,  as
     2  amended  by  chapter  238  of  the  laws  of 2001, is amended to read as
     3  follows:
     4    15. In the town of North Castle, Westchester county, the provisions of
     5  this section requiring a person to be a resident of the political subdi-
     6  vision or municipal corporation of the  state  for  which  he  shall  be
     7  chosen  or  within which his official functions are required to be exer-
     8  cised, shall not prevent a person from holding the office of town  engi-
     9  neer  [or],  the  office  of  town  building  inspector or the office of
    10  receiver of taxes of the town of North Castle, provided that such person
    11  resides in the county in which such town  is  located  or  an  adjoining
    12  county within the state of New York.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
