BLANKENBUSH, CERETTO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring the govern- ing body of each school district, which eliminates teaching positions for any school year, to decrease a proportional amount of administra- tive costs THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 2 1527-a to read as follows: 3 S 1527-A. SCHOOL BUDGET REDUCTIONS. DURING THE CONSIDERATION AND 4 ADOPTION OF THE PROPOSED SCHOOL DISTRICT BUDGET FOR ANY SCHOOL YEAR IN 5 WHICH THERE IS THE PROPOSED ELIMINATION OF ANY TEACHING POSITION OR A 6 DECREASE IN SALARY OR COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH POSITIONS, THE GOVERN- 7 ING BODY OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT SHALL MAKE A PROPORTIONAL DECREASE IN 8 THE AMOUNT OF FUNDING ALLOCATED TO ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS INCLUDING COST 9 ASSOCIATED WITH POSITIONS AND SALARIES OF ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF IN SUCH 10 PROPOSED BUDGET. 11 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately, provided however, that 12 effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule 13 or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effec- 14 tive date are authorized and directed to be made and completed on or 15 before such effective date.
