STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 4350 2021-2022 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY February 1, 2021 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. WALKER, SIMON, VANEL, GOTTFRIED, COOK, DICKENS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT relating to the Long Island Rail Road weekend reduced fare program The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Legislative findings. The New York state legislature has 2 found that on the weekends the Long Island Rail Road, a subsidiary of 3 the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, provides reduced fare between 4 the hours of 12:01 AM Saturday until 11:59 AM Sunday at certain station 5 locations. Passengers traveling to and from locations within New York 6 city should not forfeit their enjoyment of such reduced fare because 7 their train happens to pass through Nassau county. 8 § 2. Definitions. The term "fare" shall mean a person or persons who 9 tender money to participate in the transportation services provided by 10 the Long Island Rail Road. 11 § 3. It shall be unlawful for the Long Island Rail Road to exclude 12 from its weekend reduced fare programs individuals traveling from East 13 New York station to another location within New York city and to East 14 New York station from another location within New York city. 15 § 4. All trips included in such weekend reduced fare program shall 16 receive the same reduced fare regardless of starting and ending points. 17 § 5. This act shall take effect January 1, 2022.
