        AN  ACT  to  amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to requiring
          stretch limousines to be retired from use after ten years  from  manu-
          facture or the accumulation of three hundred fifty thousand miles

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 375 of the vehicle and traffic law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 55 to read as follows:
     3    55.  (a)  Any stretch limousine registered in this state which is used
     4  in the business of transporting passengers  for  compensation  shall  be
     5  retired  from  use  once such stretch limousine reaches ten years of age
     6  from its original date of  manufacture,  or  accumulates  three  hundred
     7  fifty thousand miles, whichever comes first.
     8    (b)  For  purposes of this subdivision, "stretch limousine" shall mean
     9  an altered motor vehicle having a  seating  capacity  of  nine  or  more
    10  passengers,  including  the  driver,  commonly referred to as a "stretch
    11  limousine" and which is used in the business of transporting  passengers
    12  for compensation.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
