McDONOUGH, STEVENSON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to limited permits for occupational therapists THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 7905 of the education law, as 2 amended by chapter 460 of the laws of 2011, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 (3) [A limited permit shall be valid for one year. It may be renewed 5 once for a period not to exceed one additional year, at the discretion 6 of the department, upon the submission of an explanation satisfactory to 7 the department for an applicant's failure to become licensed within the 8 original one-year period] LIMITED PERMITS SHALL BE FOR ONE YEAR AND THE 9 DEPARTMENT MAY FOR JUSTIFIABLE CAUSE RENEW A LIMITED PERMIT PROVIDED 10 THAT NO APPLICANT SHALL PRACTICE UNDER ANY LIMITED PERMIT FOR MORE THAN 11 A TOTAL OF TWO YEARS. 12 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to limited 13 permits issued or renewed on and after such date.
