STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 1471 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY January 17, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. BUTTENSCHON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to providing direct reciprocal certification for certain emergency medical technicians The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding a new section 2 3005-c to read as follows: 3 § 3005-c. Emergency medical technicians; direct reciprocal certif- 4 ication. The commissioner, in consultation with the bureau of emergency 5 medical services, otherwise subject to the provisions of this article 6 and the rules of the department promulgated thereunder prescribing the 7 qualifications for an emergency medical technician, shall grant, without 8 payment of a fee or examination, a New York state emergency medical 9 technician certification to any individual who holds a current certif- 10 ication from the national registry of emergency medical technicians. 11 Renewals of certification under such grant of reciprocity shall be 12 deemed equivalent to renewals of certification pursuant to subdivision 13 two of section three thousand two of this article. 14 § 2.
