       AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to insuring  motor  vehi-
         cles used for volunteer firefighting
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 3425 of the insurance law is amended  by  adding  a
    2  new subsection (s) to read as follows:
    3    (S)  WITH  RESPECT TO AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE, NO INSURER SHALL REFUSE TO
    4  ISSUE OR RENEW A COVERED  INDIVIDUALLY-OWNED  PRIVATE  PASSENGER  POLICY
    5  SOLELY  ON  THE  GROUND  THAT THE MOTOR VEHICLE TO BE INSURED UNDER SUCH
    6  POLICY SHALL BE USED FOR VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTING.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
    8  have become a law.
