         Committee on Transportation
       AN  ACT  authorizing  logo signage on a portion of interstate 90 for the
         "Harriet Tubman Home"
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.   Notwithstanding any other law, rule or regulation to the
    2  contrary, the New  York  state  thruway  authority  ("authority")  shall
    3  provide,  upon  approval of an application by the Harriet Tubman Home in
    4  the city of Auburn, county of Cayuga for a specific  service  or  "logo"
    5  sign  on interstate 90, an option for the payment of permit fees and any
    6  other authorized fees associated with such logo sign in  equal  install-
    7  ments  during  the  period  of  time  that such permit is valid. If such
    8  permit holder chooses  such  payment  option,  the  authority  also  may
    9  require  a down payment not to exceed twenty percent of such fees. Noth-
   10  ing contained herein shall be deemed to prohibit  the  payment  of  such
   11  fees  in  full, or of such installments in advance or in amounts greater
   12  than would otherwise be due,  at  the  option  of  such  permit  holder.
   13  Provided,  further,  that  in  the event that the Harriet Tubman Home is
   14  designated as an historic site on  the  national  register  of  historic
   15  places, nothing contained herein shall be deemed to prohibit the author-
   16  ity from erecting and installing appropriate signage therefor.
   17    S  2.  This  act  shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
   18  have become a law.
