CAHILL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to adding Ulster county sher- iff as an additional firearms licensing officer THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 10 of section 265.00 of the penal law, as 2 amended by chapter 210 of the laws of 1999, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 10. "Licensing officer" means in the city of New York the police 5 commissioner of that city; in the county of Nassau the commissioner of 6 police of that county; in the county of Suffolk the sheriff of that 7 county except in the towns of Babylon, Brookhaven, Huntington, Islip and 8 Smithtown, the commissioner of police of that county; for the purposes 9 of section 400.01 of this chapter the superintendent of state police; IN 10 THE COUNTY OF ULSTER THE SHERIFF OF THAT COUNTY AS WELL AS JUDGES OR 11 JUSTICES OF A COURT OF RECORD HAVING AN OFFICE IN THE COUNTY OF ULSTER; 12 and elsewhere in the state a judge or justice of a court of record 13 having his office in the county of issuance. 14 S 2.
