Overrides Governor's line-item veto eliminating appropriation for Grants to Hispanic Women's Resource Centers in the Department of Community Affairs.

A Concurrent Resolution overriding a line-item veto of an appropriation for Grants to Hispanic Women's Resource Centers in the Department of Community Affairs.
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of New Jersey (the General Assembly concurring):
1. That the following line-item of appropriation, on page 41 of Senate Bill No. 4000 of 2011 (P.L.2011, c.85) which was the subject of objection by the Governor in the Governor's veto statement of June 30, 2011, be restored to law as follows, the objections thereto of the Governor notwithstanding:

STATEMENT
This resolution restores the amount of an item of appropriation in the annual appropriations act for Fiscal Year 2012 that was eliminated by the Governor's line-item veto. The Grants-In-Aid line-item appropriation of $486,000 for Grants to Hispanic Women's Resource Centers in the Department of Community Affairs will restore funding to Fiscal Year 2010 levels for community based organizations throughout the State which serve a largely Latino population. The funding is used to provide a "safety net" of services to thousands of poor and working class women and their families for whom language and cultural barriers prevent them from benefitting from traditional government and private sector health and human service programs. These are working poor, many whose first language is not English, and they cannot bear program cuts that will leave them and their families more vulnerable.
