CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
As introduced.
An Act concerning the adoption tuition and fee schedules by public institutions of higher education and supplementing chapter 3B of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. The adoption of a tuition or fee schedule by the governing board of a public institution of higher education for the ensuing academic year pursuant to subsection c. of section 6 of P.L.1994, c.48 (C.18A:3B-6) or any other section of law, shall take place after the release of the Governor's recommended budget and during the Spring semester.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill would require governing boards of public institutions of higher education to adopt their tuition and fee schedules for the following academic year during the Spring semester after the release of the Governor's recommended budget.
This bill is intended to ensure that the adoption of a tuition or fee schedule by a governing board occurs during a time period when members of the college community are present on campus, so that they have a greater opportunity to be heard on any proposed changes to the schedule.
