     Requires COVID-19 test results to be provided within 72 hours after test is performed; regulates cost of certain COVID-19 tests.

An Act concerning coronavirus disease 2019 testing.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.   A public or private facility that performs a coronavirus disease 2019 test shall provide the tested individual the results of the test within 72 hours after the test was performed.

     b.  As determined by the Department of Health, a public or private facility that performs coronavirus disease 2019 tests shall not charge a significantly higher price for expedited coronavirus disease 2019 test results as compared to the price charged by the facility for non-expedited coronavirus disease 2019 test results.  

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire upon the end of the Public Health Emergency and State of Emergency declared by the Governor in Executive Order 103 of 2020 in response to the coronavirus disease 2019.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) test results to be provided within 72 hours after the tests are performed.  The bill also regulates the cost of certain COVID-19 tests.

     The bill provides that a public or private facility that performs a coronavirus disease 2019 test is to provide the tested individual the results of the test within 72 hours after the test was performed.

     Under the bill, as determined by the Department of Health, a public or private facility that performs coronavirus disease 2019 tests is not to charge a significantly higher price for expedited coronavirus disease 2019 test results as compared to the price charged by the facility for non-expedited coronavirus disease 2019 test results.
