     Repeals prohibition on elementary and secondary school students bringing or possessing paging devices on school property.

An Act concerning paging devices on school property and repealing section 2 of P.L.1989, c.232.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  Section 2 of P.L.1989, c.232 (C.2C:33-19) is repealed.

 

     2.  This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill repeals section 2 of P.L.1989, c.232 (C.2C:33-19), which prohibits an elementary or secondary school student from knowingly bringing or possessing on school property a remotely activated paging device, without the permission of the board of education or a school principal.  A violation of the provision is a disorderly person's offense.
