SYNOPSIS

     Revises effective dates of various provisions of P.L.2017, c.331 concerning animal cruelty law enforcement.

 

CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

     As reported by the Senate Environment and Energy Committee on June 18, 2018, with amendments.

 

An Act concerning the enforcement of animal cruelty laws ¹[and] ,¹ amending the effective date of P.L.2017, c.331 ¹, and repealing section 8 of P.L.1997, c.247¹ .

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

      ¹1.   Section 35 of P.L.2017, c.331 is amended to read as follows:

     35.  [Sections 8 and] Section 9 of P.L.1997, c.247 ([C.4:19-15.16c and] C.4:19-15.16d), sections 1 through 10 and 13 of P.L.2005, c.372 (C.4:22-11.1 through C.4:22-11.10 and C.4:22-11.13), R.S.4:22-12, and R.S.4:22-13 are repealed.¹

     ¹[1.]  2.¹  Section 36 of P.L.2017, c.331 is amended to read as follows:

     36.  [This]  Sections ¹[1 through 24 and 30 through] 6 and¹ 32 of this act shall take effect on the first day of the [seventh] 13th month following the date of enactment, [except that] ¹[section] sections 1 through 5 and sections 7 through 24, 29, 30, 31, and¹ 35 of this act shall take effect on the first day of the seventh month following the date of enactment, sections 25 [, 26, 27, and 28] ¹[through 29] , 26, 27, and 28¹ of this act shall take effect on the first day of the fourth month following the date of enactment, [sections 33, 34, and 36] the remainder of this act shall take effect immediately, and the Attorney General and any county prosecutor or governing body of a municipality may take any administrative action in advance [thereof] of those dates as shall be necessary for the implementation of this act.

     ¹3.   Section 8 of P.L.1997, c.247 (C.4:19-15.16c) is repealed.¹

 

     ¹[2.  This]     4.     Section 3 of this act shall take effect on February 1, 2019 and the remainder of this¹ act shall take effect immediately.
