SYNOPSIS

     Requires mail-in ballot applications be available at polling places on election day for voting in future elections; requires establishment of Internet webpages to provide instructions for completing mail-in ballot applications.

An Act concerning the availability of mail-in ballot applications at polling places and supplementing P.L.2009, c.79 (C.19:63-1 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    1[The Secretary of State] a.  Each county board of elections1 shall cause to be made available at each polling place on the day of 1[any] an1 election copies of mail-in ballot applications for future elections and instructions detailing the process that an eligible voter must follow to apply to vote by mail in future elections.  1[The secretary shall also ensure that each poll worker at each polling place is trained on the instructions for completing and mailing a mail-in ballot application for future elections to enable each poll worker, at the request of the voter, to discuss the mail-in ballot application instructions with the voter]

     b.    The Secretary of State and each county clerk shall establish and maintain an Internet webpage that provides instructions for completing and mailing a mail-in ballot application for future elections, and is accessible to the general public through a link prominently displayed on the official Internet website of the Secretary of State or the county clerk, as the case may be1.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the January 1 next following the date of enactment.
