STATEMENT

The bill appropriates $11,777,499 to the New Jersey Historic Trust for grants for certain historic preservation projects contained in the bill and associated administrative expenses.

The funding in this bill is provided from constitutionally dedicated corporation business tax (CBT) revenues pursuant to Article VIII, Section II, paragraph 6 of the State Constitution, approved by the voters of the State in November 2014The "Preserve New Jersey Act" implements the constitutional dedication of CBT revenues for open space, farmland, and historic preservation.  The "Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund" was established by section 9 of the "Preserve New Jersey Act."

The funding contained in this bill will be used to provide capital preservation grants for 24 projects, totaling $9,783,089, and historic site management grants for 28 projects, totaling $994,410.  In addition, the bill appropriates $1 million to the New Jersey Historic Trust for administrative expenses incurred in the implementation of the "Preserve New Jersey Act."
