SYNOPSIS
Appropriates total of $160,000 from General Fund to Rutgers University-Camden and Rutgers University-Newark to establish Civic Leadership Summer Program.

A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019 and regulating the disbursement thereof," approved July 1, 2018 (P.L.2018, c.53).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2018, c.53, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

The amounts hereinabove appropriated for Civic Leadership Summer Program shall be used to establish a summer program for high school students from New Jersey on the campus of Rutgers University-Camden. The purpose of the program shall be to increase civic awareness among students who reside in areas that have low voter participation rates or otherwise demonstrate a lack of civic engagement at the community level.

The amounts hereinabove
appropriated for Civic Leadership Summer Program shall be used to establish a

2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill makes a supplemental appropriation totaling $160,000 from the General Fund to Rutgers University-Camden and Rutgers University-Newark in the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The funding would be used to establish a summer program for high school students from New Jersey that focuses on civic leadership. The program's purpose would be to increase civic awareness among students who reside in areas that have low voter participation rates or otherwise demonstrate a lack of civic engagement at the community level.
